I hope this doesn't compromise the military.

No worries here, it's a step forwards for once. Skynet is the replacement.
Let's just hope the MOD gets something good with the money.

The MoD has been slapped with an AIP charge (Administered Incentive Pricing) to force them to off load their unused spectrum as outlined in the Cave report.
It is a good thing. We are working ona network in the Thames Valley on a Test & Development license in one of the bands to be sold by the MoD. It is lovely clean spectrum and opens up the market to serious competition as owning a national license is not required and a local license is of minimal cost. Good for everybody. Although I might be slightly biased, as a wireless network operator, this is a good thing. The MoD has the spectrum as a relic of the past and the government trying to open it up for most efficient use is great.
