Hang on...

The term 'Gay' now has so many meanings, dependent on the contaxt it is used in.

Didn't the 'Gay' community adopt the word themselves, from its original usage as a synonym of the word 'Happy' and laster relabelled as meaning as 'Good As You'?

So surely they cannot complain now that the term has itself moved on, and become adopted by another community - most specifically the current teenage age group of 11 - 17?

No this is typical of the behind the scenes penpushers of government who come out with this sort of claptrap every now and then just to let us know they are still there. Do school kids know who the poofs are ? Does it matter? Its the people who make it "different" that are the problem not the kids or for that matter the irons

Just as most racial/ethnic policies are instigated by white people, a lot of these gay policies are thought of most likely by straight people.

You know the sort, that sneering, liberal-left 'holier than thou' office worker.

Just as many postivie discrimination policies are scoffed at by minorities, I can imagine a lot of these policies are in turn derided by gay people.

I've often spoken to friends of mine that bare gay about stuff like this and all they want is live their lives in peace.

They don't go around thinking they're 'gay gay gay' that's just their orientation and is just one part of their lives.

Policies like these only seek to drive a wedge between gay people and the rest of society.

You're partially right! from Victorian times to the 1960s, it meant someone of either sex who who had a happy outlook! It was then "Stolen" by Homosexuals to describe themselves, this left a lot of Heterosexuals slightly annoyed, especially as they were no longer allowed to refer to homosexuals as "Queer", Queer meant odd amongst the general population and no way would the PC lobby allow that! To days 11-17 age youth use it as a derogatory statement not as a complement!
