Just happened to glance at the back of a 50p piece. It's dated 2003 and the design, far from being Brittania, is that of a suffagette waving a placard and a bill board saying "Give Women the Vote". The end is nigh.

Funny that Labour put that image on the back of the 50 pence coin - for it was a Conservative Government which gave women the vote.

Yes, let us go back to the artisan age! In fact, let us imagine where we would be if the industrial revolution had never happened.

Guvnah, are you going to move to Africa any time soon?

Hi, this is my third attempt to post here (no idea why, but nothing seems to stay on lol).

Basically, I think it's disgraceful that it's being changed because it's part of our history. So much so, that I managed to find an online retailer that selling t-shirts with the emblem printed accross the front. You can see the product here:

Great British T-Shirt Emporium - Great British T-Shirt Emporium - Original T-Shirts - Britannia Romana T shirt

The shirts been reduced down to £9.99 for a limited time only aswell.

New designs: The Royal Shield of Arms Gold Proof Collection

They are alright, not as good as the old ones, but alright.

Considering the history of Britannia there is something more than disquieting about New Labour being so hell bent on removing a symbol of Great Britain from our coinage.

On the other hand it may simply be that this awful government and the intellectually challenged ill-educated light weights that make it up don’t even know of the origin of Britannia in our history, and see nothing beyond the song “Rule Britannia”.

Should Britannia remain on our coinage?

As certain as the French issued Euro retains the words Liberté Egalité Fraternité, so our British coins have even more justification to retain Britannia.
