Footballer David Beckham - now based in America - has apparently praised Labour Prime Minister Gordon Brown - saying (allegedly) that he was doing "a very good job"

Brief extract from the article on the link in the first posting to this thread "Asked what he thought of Mr Brown, after his first meeting with the prime minister, he said: "He's a very good man, he's a man who's looking after our country and he's doing a very good job. I'm very proud to be here tonight."

He's not the sharpest tool in the box, but it doesn't matter. Millions of youngsters will now think Brown is a good bloke.

I think you're being too hard on him. What do you expect him to say? "Brown's a horrible creature!"?

What he said is just a standard courteous statement towards the prime minister of the country. It doesn't mean Beckham likes him either.

I think that is most likely the case, I have seen Beckham interviewed many times over the years and he always adopts a courteous tone.
