REMINDER - Freedom of choice

Just a reminder to everyone, that there will be a mass "Smoke in" in the Swan in Bolton on Sunday. Doors open at 12.00hrs, and apparently, Sky News will be there from 14.00hrs, plus other press etc.
I suspect many will attend this act of defiance !

Appreciate many will not be able to make it for obvious reasons, but those who do will be made most welcome. :wink:
You might even get me to buy you a pint :? Just look for a big fat git, slightly balding with a moustache. 8)

Oh how I wish I could go to this. I wouldn't smoke (because I don't), but I would give the health fascists a hard time if they dared show up.

It should be fun seeing the Police trying to get 1000 fines through the courts ?

Apparently, there are other pubs in Lancashire going to fight the ban as well - one in Blackpool i hear.
The more Landlords who back this, the better. We could really stuff up the judicial system ! 8) :evil:

Good luck to these protesters and should they be fined and refuse to pay I'm sure our new government will release murderers, rapists and muggers from prison to free up space for criminals of the most heinous crime - those that do not pay their fines to the state after all if everyone did this GTM would have no money to give away to the EU and other similarly deserving organisations and individuals

What a great day this turned out to be.
By 3 o'clock or so, the pub was packed. I spoke to Scots, and one guy from Surrey, all of whom had made the long journey specially for this event. Freedom to Choose were there, giving out badges. ITV cameras (Granada Reports) were there, along with our local Socialist rag The Bolton News (who predictably totally misquoted me in this mornings edition) :shock:
Live Jazz music, and the Accrington Pipe Band provided excellent entertainment.
The owner of the Swan told me that smoking on the premises will continue, until such time as he appears in court !

Whereupon, he will continue the fight in the courtrooms

Sadly, after 5-6 hours hard graft yesterday, i feel a little worse for wear right now. I think the eleventh pint might have been a little off ! :shock:

They will, in the end, lose though.

I am not being defeatist, but the authorities will grind all down.

I was half expecting to see 'Battle of Westminster' like scenes with scores of PSUs cracking some nicotine stained skulls.

I can imagine some pubs still carrying on with smoking though, I'd love to see 'Tobacco Enforcement Officers' walking into some tough, inner city (or far flung rural) pub and wagging their fingers.

I understand that a local WM Club has placed a DD bus in the rear of its property for members to use along with invited guests.(I bet most of them in there are the local coppers).

My local has completley ignored the ban. I have told them to give me a call when they send the Nazi's around to persecute them.
