Default Mandelson says Blair should have held euro referendum early

Quotes from the programme "The rise and fall of Tony Blair" shown on Channel Four television 7pm to 9 pm today (including a claim made by Claire Short MP reported before in the media):

Peter Mandelson said at 7.24 pm "He (Blair) should have held a referendum on the principle - not timing - of joining the euro early on in his first term as Prime Minister."

Claire Short, the Independent MP (formerly a member of the Blair Labour Cabinet) said at 7.25 pm "Blair told Gordon (Brown) - if you agree to go into the euro I'll give you the country to run. An extraordinary and disgraceful offer to be made - but there is no doubt that he made it."

Neil (now Lord) Kinnock, the former EU Commissioner and Labour Party leader, said at 7.27 pm of the Mandelson-Brown relationship "There is that most poisonous sentiment of distrust and it never recovered."

Clearly Mandelson lives by his belief that we are now in the post democratic era!

Default Gordon Brown, Peter Mandelson

He says he's not doing another term as an EU Commissioner from 2009. I wonder what he will do instead. I hope he's not thinking of coming back over here and trying to get back into Government if/when Gordon Brown (whom he apparently does not get on with) is no longer in charge.

Blair has certainly delivered enough to his EU master over the last decade for them to at least shortlist him for the job of new EU President.

It must have involved monkey's or Frenchmen

The promotion's and reinstatement of Mandelson just show how corrupt and venal B-Liar and his cronies are "I'm a straight sort of a guy" No Tony you are a two faced lying thieving moronic arsehole or a lawyer
Take your pick
