Because a few morons can't follow the simple and obvious advice that you shouldn't drink more than a few units a week, they decide to scare everyone and say you shouldn't drink at all.

I hate the way everyone is treated by the lowest common denominator standard,

Yes I agree it saddenns me, I used to think it was the government just playing nanny but I think now it is about control than anything the govenrment want to have a say in everything we do.

As a teetotaller, I fail to understand why anyone needs a drink at all. Like all the women getting home from work and cracking open a bottle of wine - I simply can't comprehend it.

Drinking isn't really fun. It's an illusion to mask that fact that you're not really having much fun at all and you're living in an oppressive hole of a country.

Not only is it fun, it's tasty (Depending on what the alcohol is!)
