Default ICM just called me for a poll

They asked me if I thought global warming was all hysteria (guess my answer).

They asked me if I believed telling people how to eat was getting out of hand (guess my answer).

They asked if I was concerned about immigration (guess my answer).

They asked if I though the police should be armed (guess).

Plus they asked me a load of comercial **** too.

Nothing about the EU, Blue Labour etc though.

In order:
"Global Warming? Do you need a subscription to get it?"

"Isn't it a good idea to give instructions on using knives and forks? We don't want to look as stupid as Americans do!"

"I prefer Hull, actually, it's got the best MP"

"Well, if they didn't have arms they wouldn't be able to drive cars properly"

Am I close? 8)

Default Telephone polls

MKP Davies: Did you ask who they were doing the poll for? I always ask the person 'phoning who it's for and if I don't like the answer (or they won't give me a proper answer) I don't agree to answer any of their questions.

No idea, but there will be a follow up.

TG was only right about the Hull MP.

Oh no, my mistake, he was wrong there too.

Are they supposed to call you if you are signed up to YouGov?

Because I haven't had my phone on in years.

Not sure where they got my number from. It's the first time I have been called.

Yougov send me the odd email, but then I signed up to that!

Default Opinion polling organisations, telephone numbers

Some opinion polling organisations apparently use a computer which dials telephone numbers at random (i.e. it does not use a list of published telephone numbers). This presumably means that people who are ex-directory could be contacted by telephone by a polling organisation.

Yep. I'm ex-directory and got a call from a poll.

We frequently get calls to both of our numbers.

The main one which is ex-d is given out to all sorts of places and can therefore be expected to be released to such organisations eventually.
The other one still occasionally gets called and has never been released to anyone other than close friends and family. If some telesales **** calls that they have to listen to some abuse before hanging up.

Default Junk mailings

On a related subject, I know of someone who is so fed up with receiving 'junk mail' that, if the mailing includes a pre-paid envelope, they simply put the contents of the junk mailing (unread) in the envelope and post the whole lot straight back to the company who sent it.
