Default Labour-Conservative coalition formed at East Dunbartonshire

'A Labour-Conservative coalition has been formed at East Dunbartonshire - believed to be the first of its kind in recent memory' claims the Herald newspaper.

The new administration has restored weekly rubbish collections (the Liberal Dims had reduced them to fortnightly).

One person, Big Mary, of Greenock left the following comment on the Herald website (after the report on the link below) at 1.47 am today "I don't think Tony & Gordon will be too pleased that their councillors are moving to the left in East Dunbartonshire."

UKIP has dubbed the Cameron-led Conservatives 'Blue Labour'.

The report on the new council at East Dunbartonshire can be found at:

Oh dear oh dear. Even a minority government would be better than this.

There was a change across Scotland for getting Labour out except in the Glasgow regions who will vote Labour until the end of time because 'ma da did'.

Recently in Edinburgh (my city) we have thrown Labour out for the first time in 24 years and despite getting and SNP-Lid Dem coalition things are already looking up. It looks like the 1 billion pound tram scheme will be scrapped. This is making me very happy.

Default Edinburgh, europhiles, Scottish National Party, Liberal Dims

Smidgey: Edinburgh is a very scenic city which deserves a well run council. In other words - not one led by the Scottish Nationalists (SNP) and Liberal Dims. How awful for the people of Edinburgh - having to put with a council run by the SNP and Lib Dims. Two extreme europhile parties in charge of things. Bad.

Oh yes, I agree. But so far the only policies we have seen out of them have been ones I am in favour of - but it remains to be seen what they do for the rest of the term, especially since this term is still very young.

They cannot be worse than Labour though... They will probably end up being just as bad.

Thanks for your comments on Edinburgh as well, it really is a beautiful city and it is a complete anomaly amongst dependency-culture Scotland. It's a shame really, but I am proud of this city and his rich history, especially it being the center of the Scottish enlightenment.

Such a coalition existed in Rochdale between 2004 & 2006.

Default Liberal Dims, Rochodale

How interesting. I wasn't aware of that. At least they kept that deeply unpleasant europhile party the Liberal Dims out of power during that period of time at Rochdale.

Yes, Edinburgh was the first place I visited in Scotland. Naturally, the first part of the city I headed for during my time there was Edinburgh Castle.
