The press and the big parties just will not mention the EU on this. Jeff Randall on Queston Time last night had a chance to refer to this dimension but didn't - and he seems to be eurosceptic.
As the UKIP press release suggests, the pressure on government support for post offices will not be going away as the subsidy has only had a limited time period agreed from the EU. The removal of possible useful functions from post offices will run and run. What a bloody cheek. If the British people want to pay for proper helpful local services there is no case for outside interference. Of course what drives this is giving more business to other (non-UK mainly) postal companies. |
