Such an occurrence could do damage to the reputation of the Conservatives as a Unionist Party.

It also indicates that there might be a possibility of two strongly europhile parties - Plaid Cymru and the Liberal Dims - agreeing to put in and keep in power (in the Commons) a minority Cameron-led Conservative party after the next General Election. On the condition that it be a very pro-EU and pro-devolution Government  .
Indeed they would be required to vote for a PC first minister if part of a coalition and on any motion of confidence. These things tend to vary but one could not rule out the Westminister arrangement you describe.

Default Welsh Assembly, Plaid Cymru, Conservatives, devolution

So - just eight years after (rightly) opposing the establishment of the Welsh Assembly (and nearly winning it, too) the Conservatives, now led by David Cameron, might be about to vote for a First Minister from the most pro-devolution party in all of Wales (Plaid Cymru).

The very thought of it annoys me.

The europhile Welsh so-called Nationalists (Plaid Cymru) seek to break the historic and ancient centuries old link between Wales and England. I do not want to see someone from that party occupying the top post in the Welsh Assembly.

It would appear that the former anti devoultionist Conservative and Unionist Party are possibly prepared to put a nationalist Europhile Party into power and sustain it.

Of Course the Tories in Scotland abstained last week in a vote to help allow the vile europhile Alex Salmond to become first minister of Scotland.

Default Conservatives, Plaid Cymru, devolution, UK, First Ministers

I just cannot believe that most Conservative Party members up and down the land are at all happy about the scenario of elected Conservatives voting for (or not voting against) europhile devolutionists and separatists who want to wreck the UK to become First Ministers of parts of the UK.

If the Welsh people end up having a Plaid Cymru First Minister that means that all parts of the UK except England will have anti-UK First Ministers or Deputy First Ministers.

Yes and how ever hard Blair tries to secure his legacy over the coming few weeks I hope people will see that this is a part of the real legacy.

I cant beleive Conservative grass roots will be happy, I suspect Cameron will give them some spin about 'grown up sensible politics' but I think the whole thing looks shabby and calculating.

Default Labour Party, Welsh Assembly, Plaid Cymru, Blair, Lib Dims

It appears that the Welsh Labour Party is not prepared to go into coalition with the anti-UK Plaid Cymru (even though it could if it wanted to - the two parties together would have a clear majority) in the Welsh Assembly.

There are going to be Conservative members who are asking themselves the question "if Plaid Cymru (PC) are not good enough to be Labour's coalition partner in Wales - why should they be good enough for us?"

You are right to point out, RJT (earlier posting to this thread, above), that one of the many awful legacies of ten years of Blair and his Lie-bour Party is a divided UK with the anti-UK europhile Salmond in power at Follywood :x and the fanatically pro-EU and anti-UK Welsh Nationalists (PC) possibly about to take the majority of places in the administrative body of Wales with the deceitful europhile Liberal Dims  .

Plaid will formally end all talks with Labour this afternoon if no further progress is made making the prospect of a rainbow coalition even more likely.
