Default Blair and Ahern to address parlaiment

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/northern_ireland/default.stm

Given that the Republic of Irealand now will have a direct say in the governance of the UK I suppose he ought to let us know what his plans are for us.

Default Aherne, Irish Republic, Northern Ireland, Dr. Paisley, Hain

RJT, I think your comment sums the situation up perfectly.

I don't like this man Aherne at all. And there are many people in the Irish Republic who don't like him or his party either.

Aherne said a while back that the Good Friday Agreement would lead to a united Ireland in 20 years. Proof that republicans see present arrangements in Northern Ireland merely as a temporary step. Dr. Paisley, the DUP leader, on the other hand, says that the Union (of Northern Ireland with Great Britain) is "safe".

As we all know, Hain, the Northern Ireland Minister, has a history of supporting the aim of republicans to put British Northern Ireland into the Irish Republic. Blair once stood as a Labour candidate committed to ending the Union of Great Britain with Northern Ireland.

All of these people - Blair, Hain and Aherne were at the photocall attended by Dr. Paisley and McGuinness from SIN Fein a week or so ago. So the only one of those people all of whom will have a say in running British Northern Ireland who is truly committed to the Union of Northern Ireland with Great Britain at the photocall was Dr. Paisley.

One Unionist out of five people.

Blair has not been hoodwinked, he got the Ulster Unionists to comprimise and they have near enough gone out of existance at Westminister, now he has flattered Paisley, and if the unionist vote splits we could end up with an IRA first Minister and be on our way to a united Ireland which was until 1992 Labour policy.

Indeed, rjt, very astute analysis.
