Let's not go over the top. Kentishman's comments were misplaced but he was making a political point about funding in the UK. He almost certainly did not mean that Scottish, Welsh and Irish people were "parasites", as I am sure he would confirm.

I'm Scottish and I have to say his post could have been phrased a little better at the very least. The point is a bit silly in any case, if you break it down another level then London subsidises the rest of the UK to some outlandish extent, does that make those who live in say... Kent, parasites living off of Londoners? The answer is of course no, because any city which is at the centre of administration, finance, business, communications and so on within a given country will "subsidise" the rest of it. It's the natural state of affairs, making some point about fairness in that context is completely meaningless because the reason London subsidises the rest of the UK is that the majority of the nation's wealth gravitates there, not because Londoners work harder.

Staffsman - There are a considerable number of people who are ashamed you say you are English.

English people are ashamed that people like you continue to want to invest in the education of Scottish Children above English Children, the free payment of Welsh Prescriptions paid by English Taxes and the grotesque subsidies to Northern Ireland so that to Irish men can laugh and joke together at the expense of the English taxpayer.

The people of Scotland, Wales & Northern Ireland have the right to self determination, and the right to spend every penny they raise from their own taxation.
