I knew he meant leafletting for the BNP.

Why so coy?

Must stick to the site rules now.
Wouldnt want to post anything that seems like promotion of the party that dare not speak its name.

In that 6 month spell we had over 200 enquiries if I remember rightly.
About 40 joined up.
So, 200 enquiries out of 140,000 leaflets? So a 0.15% conversion rate? That's a little disheartening. Where exactly was this "North East"? Scotland?
John you will realise after several years of leafleting for what ever party you may choose that the public are just very apathetic.
Very few people wish to be involved in politics in anyway.
Less than 1% of the population even belong to any party what so ever.

Fair enough.
I don't suppose Longshanks is told everything.

So. What type of leaflet?
Helps to form the picture of how/why people will have responded the way they did.
First 6 months of 2004 suggests the Euro-Election. Is that correct?

Oh, I realise that.

But there's lessons to be learned here, ain't there?

Less than 1% of the population are substantially interested in politics. But more than 1% turf up to vote in the GE, don't they? What does that tell you? That's right - they really are voting for their favourite colour/hairstyle or whatever their daddy used to vote.

Your post appeared as I was typing my last one.
So not EU-specific.

Build up to the Euro's.
Between about January 2004 and the Euro election we recruited a lot of people.
We had about another 120 enquiries efter the election itself.
That year the BNP membership peaked at just under 8000.
It hasnt reached that level again till Summer this year.

Yes lots to be learned.
The message must be very basic and simple or it wont work.
