Can I just re-iterate that the choice of politicians isn't just of those wanting to withdraw from EU, it's post-1945, and I was very close to including Powell in the list. I opted for Butler instead purely because he was a leader of a party.
Apparently a major reason for Tebbit not standing for leadership was he strain it would put on his wife, who was critically injured in the Bournemouth Hotel bombing. |
