‘Brown as PM would harm Labour’ – new poll
Breaking news on ITV 1 Teletext at 8.29 pm on 21.11.2006 (analogue page 312):
A new poll shows that the Labour Party/Government “could be damaged electorally” if Gordon Brown (presently the Chancellor) takes over (as Labour leader and Prime Minister), Teletext has reported.
ICM says that the Conservative lead over Labour would go up from 5% to 8%. Support for Labour would actually hold firm but Gordon Brown being Labour leader would make supporters of the europhile Liberal ‘Democrats' switch to the Conservatives, ICM found
