I'd agree on the first bit - Kilroy was too hasty, Kilroy is also a declared English Nationalist, so he may have been capable of uniting the Euro-sceptic movement.

Unfortuanatly for UKIP (I may of course be wrong), the Kilroy incident was a fatal blow to UKIP.

I don't believe that UKIP will ever recover to the electoral heights of 2004 where UKIP finish 3rd in the European Elections - a brilliant result !

Also 'the people' liked and loathed Kilroy in similar numbers.

On reflection, more loathed him.

As was shown by the paltry 2995 votes he 'achieved' when he stood (at Erewash/Long Eaton/Ilkeston in Derbyshire) in last year's General Election. Sixteen UKIP candidates in other constituencies got more votes the same day 8) .

No wonder Kilroy tried to get the UKIP leadership before the May 2005 General Election - if he'd stood for the UKIP leadership after a General Election result like that in Derbyshire he definitely wouldn't have got the leadership! :twisted:

I watched it last night. I though he was poor, no, very poor. He seems to have aged about 50 years and he made some strange comments.

Why didn't he make the point that if people didn't want to go cold turkey, then don't commit crimes against other people?

Why didn't he bring up the Human Rights issue as one being forced on Britain by the ECJ?

Yes, I also thought Kilroy looked as if he had aged substantially (when he was on Question Time from Cheltenham last week). However, to be fair to him, it might be the studio lighting (which made him look older).

Lady Thatcher looked frail and had to be helped when walking by John Major at the Remembrance Service on Whitehall last week. However, later the same week at the State Opening of Parliament I saw her on Sky Television News sitting there in the Lords. She looked almost like a spring chicken bursting with energy.

Regarding his performance on Question Time. He seemed a little lacklustre in his contribution. Without the platform a nationally-organised party such as UKIP gave him, he seems a smaller man politically.

Not making any reference to the EU (eg in relation to slating Cameron) was a poor effort given he had the platform.

Overall there was too much making it up on the cuff and rambling.

I agree, EU Blues. There's so much 'political ammunition' to use against the EU - yet Kilroy didn't bother.

Is he really anti-EU?
