A Downing Street spokeswoman said "party political" issues would not be included, or petitions containing obscene language or libels.
Is it a libel to say he lied? :?

All of the main anti-EU groups should be using this one. Focus on the first one, with the biggest numbers and get the word out.

If we can't manage to get a few million signed up, then it's game over.
http://petitions.pm.gov.uk/EUreferendum

I agree Mat, this is the first time ALL euro sceptics can voice their wish. Although some one has put a petition for withdrawal on the site, it's not really realistic as the powers that be will just come back with spin as to why it is impossible to do.

However, a referendum, is a democratic trap as far as the big three are concerned, if this gets millions of signatures, it would make headline news and put enormous pressure on the government. It would also be reported as undemocratic if they removed or tried to fob the people off.

Questions would be asked such as, "what are you afraid of, what are you covering up etc etc"

The first task is to get it past the (1424 signatures) of the Repeal the hunting act, this will then place the eureferendum on the main page as the top petition.

UKIP,BOO,Veritas, Popular Alliance, New Party,English democrats, even the BNP, infact all eu sceptic parties and organisations need to have a link from their main websites to this one, along with informing all their online members , opportunities like this don't come twice.

Farrage must sign this and he needs to promote it if he is really serious about the EU

UPDATE

Quote:
Update from No10, 16/11/2006: There has been an huge response to this new service, with nearly 500 petitions submitted in the first couple of days. As our terms and conditions explain, we are obliged to check them all before they can be published on this site. This is to ensure that, for example, they are not party political, obscene or libellous, as these are prohibited by the law and the Civil Service Code. So far, we are finding that the great majority of petitions can be published without any problem, and more are being added to the site continually. However, we have been obliged to send back to users a few for reasons explained in our rejections section, who then get a second chance to modify their petition to fit it within the rules. We are also considering a number pf petitions which raise legal questions or other issues (everything from apparent false names and addresses, to apparent libel, to product placement, to requests for money). Obviously, these will take more time to vet, but we still aim to respond to all petition organisers within 5 working days.
I dont like this party political clause, they could say its a UKIP party political stunt when obviously a unknown guy started it.

There is a problem with this petition. My partner signed both petitions at around 5pm tonight her ID one has registered but the EU one has not.
The ID petition has leapt ahead in numbers.
Think it is a genuine IT problem? Or that it would be too easy for us?
