Default Europhile Scottish Nationalists will get 51% of vote - poll

Support in Scotland for (Scotland) leaving the UK has reached 51% according to an ICM poll. Due to the increasing unpopularity in the UK (including Scotland) of the euro, the Scottish National Party (which wants Scotland out of the UK) is presently trying to conceal from Scottish voters its keen (and long-held) wish for Scotland to go into the ailing euro and to be governed by the EU (and its EU Constitution).

Find out more at:

http://conservativehome.blogs.com/to...support_f.html

* The Scottish Parliamentary elections take place in May 2007. SNP minority or majority control of the Scottish Parliament does not mean that the Scottish people would vote to leave the UK if there was a referendum on the issue.

** The opinion poll result (above) does not necessarily mean that as many as 51% of Scottish voters would vote to quit the UK in a referendum.

Default Poll overstates anti-UK feeling in Scotland

It's time for an English Parliament and the establishment of an English Executive - not a halfway house of English MPs voting on specifically English issues in the Commons.

I've backed the proposal for an English Parliament for many years.

The one thing the europhiles and the pro-EU Labour and Liberal Dim parties DON'T want is an England in charge of her own affairs (and one out of the EU).

I think the view of many English people is that if Scotland wants to leave the UK, that's fine. But there is no reason why the rest UK cannot continue as a single nation state without them.

I do not, actually, believe that if there was a referendum tomorrow in Scotland on quitting the UK, that over 50% of voters in Scotland would vote for their land to leave Great Britain and the UK.

By the way, the heading on this thread is wrong (my error) . I had just intended to correct it but can't because posts (and thread titles) can't be changed by forum users once someone has anwered them.

It should say "Support in Scotland for quitting UK reaches 51%".

Why is it time?

If Scotland does quit, then we will get it anyway.

We need to be doing something about it now. The same logic applies to Scotland as to the EU. We object to being ruled by people we do not elect.

The Scottish psyche regards all the English as murdering redcoats and makes no allowance for the fact that the English ruling class through control of the army treated the English peasantry in much the same way as it did the Scots and Irish.

The problem has always been the English non-ruling class has always been too loyal to the Crown and blasé about it and allowed the media and trades union movement to be taken over by Scots, Welsh and Irish.

Its long past the time for the English to resurrect the cry of Flanders and Swan,

'The English, the English, the English are the best
So up with the English and down with the rest'.

and get our own Parliament.

There are a lot of people on this thread saying a great deal of sense.

Only Matt appears to want to live in a Country ruled by Europeans and Scots.

Still at least Matt can keep his flag

Well if Scotland and Wales (I guess after) ****** off, we shall have our own parliament.

Westminster!

God knows how we will police our borders etc, but If the plan to divide and conquer Britain succeeds, then I guess it's something that has to be thought about.

I think the Scottish people also need to be made aware of this

THE Scottish National Party is targeting the immigrant Polish community to boost its performance at next year’s Scottish election.
Party chiefs hope a manifesto translated into Polish, along with registration cards sent out to migrants in their native tongue, will help attract Scotland’s newest residents to the SNP — or Szkocha Partia Narodowa.

About 50,000 immigrants have arrived in Scotland since Poland entered the European Union (EU), all of whom are now entitled to vote in next year’s Holyrood poll.

The party is concentrating on four marginal seats — Glasgow Govan, Glasgow Kelvin, Inverness and Linlithgow — and it believes it can appeal to Poles’ sense of nationalism to vote for a separate Scotland.

“They are benefiting from independence from the Soviet state and joining the EU,” said Peter Murrell, the SNP’s chief executive.

“Obviously they are therefore more open to the message that Scotland is an ancient, independent nation.”

Marcin Klessa, manager of the Sikorski Polish club in Glasgow, said he had been influenced by the campaigning literature.

“I like the idea of seeing Scotland become a sovereign nation,” he said. “That could attract me to vote SNP.”

Orwell would have been proud of that line.

Is this guy steeped in British history and constitutional matters? He's new here, and he 'likes' the idea of an independent Scotland? That's like me going to Texas and saying "I like the idea of seeing Texas becoming a sovereign nation".

Matt Said:-

Matt - I've never said that an English Parliament should be anywhere but Westminter

The House of Commons becomes an English Parliament
The House of Lords becomes a British (Elected) Senate in a Federal UK, or if Scotland & Wales leave, then the House of Lords continues as a 2nd Chamber.

Who said anything about a NEW expensive buidling ?????????

The other question, is if Scotland decides to leave the UK, then are we going to allow a Scottish Led British Goverment negotiate with the Scots ??

Sounds like a conflict of interest to me, and likely to lead to the English getting stitched up !

I know some people love to hate the Scots here (just like some Scots love to hate the English). I don't though and like to know the real facts on Scotland and the EU.

It is true that the SNP are scum, for they play on nationalism, while actually being the opposite. They have a unique opportunity, as they are not Labour and not the Tories, but the vast majority of Scots voters don't realise how pro-EU they are and how they are nothing but a sham to divide and conquer Britain, for easier digestion by the EU.

http://www.scottishpolicynet.org.uk/...chapter6.shtml

Scotland was (and I believe still is) one of the most EUsceptical sections on Britain.

They have to be woken up to the SNP agenda.
