Yes - market forces should apply to political parties as much as they do to commercial enterprises.

You must be disappointed (but hardly surprised) that he didn't answer the question.

"We can't have a vibrant, healthy democracy for nothing"

What a meaningless sentence.

We certainly can't have a vibrant, healthy democracy with the three main parties losing any connection to their membership.

Yes, but I haven't finished yet !

As I haven't previously used this live chat line Q&A before I missed, wasn't fast enough, the opportunity to question the evasion and when I came back to it to do so the session had ended !

Certainly one hour was too short.

Well done Colin Mc N, but I am afraid that the UKIP corporate view seems to be that members are wasting their effort getting involved in the funding review consulatation as it is mere window dressing as the government will go ahead and do what it wants regardless.

well, to be fair, that is the government strategy. Invite 'consultation' then ignore it completely, publishing the papers ensuring that any comments quoted were in line with what the gov wanted anyway.

Most 'consultations' are, as stated, just window dressing.

That's certainly the impression I get from Hayden Phillips' reply to Colin's question. He very much assumes the answer the government wants in dealing with Colin's point.

Yes, that's a New Labour speciality.

I've lodged, but I fear it is all a puppet show. The decision has been made and the Troika will be most satisfied with the result I am sure.

I've also lodged a complaint, but I think my complaint like all the others will be ignored!
