Council Tax is a double taxation because you have already paid income tax on the money you pay the Council. Council Tax must be abolished. It is unjust. It does not take in to account the ability to pay. It allows Councils (that need to be abolished, as well, and a new system developed) to demand any amount they want and then send you to jail without a Court case if you can not pay. They do not have to justify their demands and are not accountable for immoral waste that they are so good at. It is still a fact that if you don't spend your budget and ask for more in a Council you will be moved to another department. It is a crime in a Council to save money. UKIP need to address this problem.

The price of a loaf of bread does not take into account your ability to pay either. Why should the provision of services be any different ?

Well, with the council, you don't have a choice of different brands, different (cheaper) foods than bread, making your own bread, or just skipping your morning toast altogether. You have to pay it, no matter if you want the services or not.

And some (most?) of the things councils seem to spend our money on are dubious at best - such as green recycling bins, meaning we'll only have a regular rubbish bin pickup once every two weeks. I have a compost heap - all my degradables go on there. My green bin will be empty, yet I'm still paying for it, and paying double for half the number of proper rubbish collections too. Millions of pounds of our money are going into this swizz. Clearly something needs to be done with councils.

You pay income tax related to your earnings, if you dont earn (or you are an MP) you do not pay income tax. By what right does Council tax differ?

This is what ****** me off at a rate of £200 a day who could afford to protest against this, only people that live in council houses.

Exactly.

It's stacked against anyone who actually has built up some sort of wealth for their families.

Everything is the same, you are not supposed to protest, you are to obey no matter what.

I have even thought of divorcing my wife and letting her have everything, just so I can go on a real mission.

To fight the system you have to leave the system.

Don't pay it. They can't take it out of your account, and they can spend years dragging you through the courts. You can make it far more expensive and inconvenient.

Plans like this rely entirely on the goodwill of the taxpayer and that goodwill has pretty much dissipated - take a look at the BBC HYS on 'green taxes'. 99% venom.

Ah. Now we are getting to the point. You are talking about those who have no earned income. Can't get blood out of a stone i suppose, but why should I pay less to have my bins emptied because I earn less than my neighbour ?

Slowly making the difference between working and not very small. The re-distribution of wealth ideal !
