We need to get across the message - The EU = Mass Immigration. The EU = No return to Corporal or Capital Punishment. The EU = No Protection of British Industry and Jobs. |

English Independence would be the fastest route out of the EUssr for 85% of the UK population.
Why isn't UKIP campaigning to get Southern Ireland back if you feel so strongly about a truly United Kingdom (of Great Britian & Ireland)

Manchester, Birmingham, Liverpool and Bristol will be within 50 miles of an international border. Giving the Eurocrats the power to impose border controls so near British cities is lunatic. |

As it is now Britishness just wont sell in Scotland and Wales and with 31% of English people now backing independence it sells even less well here. So the hinderance now is the UK itself and the British Wide movements who seek EU withdrawl. As for local government I would rather see things ran by Central Government than mini Soviet state slike Liverpool and Manchester. |

Almost every thread you post on ED you ask this question. UKIP supports withdrawal from the EU and does over 60% of the electorate. The English Democrats supports something that the minority of the electorate support. |

Those people who support English 'independence' are I suspect much like the ones in Scotland ie people who really haven't given much thought to what it would actually mean in practice. There is NO NEED WHATSOEVER to destroy the United Kingdom either from an economic or a social perspective. If it happened, we would ALL BE THE LOSERS and we would find it difficult to escape from the EU's orbit. However, if we stay together as a United Kingdom, then we still have a good chance of securing a better future for all of us.

Ryansoton, you made an innocent mistake there in thinking that a return of the Republic to the United Kingdom would be the British Empire all over again. It wouldn't be. Ireland was an integral part of the United Kingdom for over 100 years and sent MPs to the British Parliament at Westminster something which NO British colony was ever granted the right to do, not even the thirteen American colonies or Australia.
