Default Labour's worst opinion poll result since the days of Mrs. T.

An opinion poll to be published in the leftist europhile Guardian newspaper tomorrow (25.10.2006) will put support for the parties as follows: Conservatives 39%, Labour 29%, Liberal Dims 22%, 'Others' 10%.

Support for 'Others' is quite high at 10%. It is the worst opinion poll for Labour since Lady Thatcher was Conservative Prime Minister. Alarmingly, the Guardian poll puts the fanatically pro-EU Liberal Dims on 22% - just 1% less than their performance at the last General Election. Proof that not enough has been done to expose Campbell's Fiberal Dims for what they are - the political arm of the EU in the UK.

On the basis of the likely constituency boundaries at the next General Election (boundaries not beneficial to the Conservatives), the Conservative Party would have a narrow majority in the Commons on the basis of the above poll.

Source of above figures: BBC 2 Television Newsnight 11.20 pm, 24.10.2006.

Default No party gets over 40%

Further details on the Guardian poll have become available: Labour are down 5% (on the last poll conducted by the same polling organisation for the Guardian) and the Conservatives are up 2%. The Liberal Dim share has gone up by 1%.

The Guardian tomorrow (25.10.2006) writes "Support for minor parties has grown".

One political commentator said (on Sky Television News at 11.40 pm today) "Twenty years ago the big parties could get over 40% of the vote. This seems to be becoming a rarer thing."

Just goes to show you how polls can be swayed by question style.

As long as Others keeps up the progress, I am happy.

Default Blair damaging Labour

The Guardian poll tomorrow (25.10.2006) is very different from the one in today's Independent (detailed in the UKIP section of this forum).

Both polls can't be right (about the differing vote shares for each party).

The key message that comes from the two is "push off Blair". That's how I see it, anyway  .

The message I get is, the readers of both papers are stupid sheep, but slowly coming around out of their trance.

Even better poll in the Independent.

The Independent poll showed the Tories on 38, with a lead of six percentage points over Labour on 32 per cent and the Liberal Democrats trailing on 14 per cent, with others at 16 per cent.

16% is the highest ive ever seen the others on.
Which I imagine would have UKIP and the BNP sharing about 12% of the vote.

Default Worst poll for Labour since May 1987

There's more on the 'Independent' poll in the UKIP General section of the forum.

I now learn that today's Guardian poll is the worst for Labour since May 1987 when Mrs. (now Lady) Thatcher was heading the Conservative campaign for the June (1987) General Election (which, of course, she won).

The next Labour leader is going to have to completely disassociate his party from the Iraq situation to recover lost votes. It looks as if ack Straw's remarks about the face veil (worn by some Islamic females) has made a large number of anti-Iraq 'war' protest voters that were slowly returning to Labour (from the europhile Liberal 'Democrats') return to backing the Liberal Dims (which is why the Liberal Dims are on 22% in today's Guardian poll).

Labour is going to have to more-or-less pull our troops out of Iraq (or something close to it) to recover their electoral position.

And they will now stay behind in the opinion polls until Blair clears off. He can't hang on to the fat salary and perks at No. 10 Downing Street forever.

Yes, it is good to see the progress the 'minor parties' are making. If it continues, then we can get back to debating real issues in this country and we'll have real politics once again. It really is about time more people woke-up and realised that the Lib/Lab/Con three party trick has long outlived any relevance it may once have had. Good riddance to all of them, I say.

The three big EU continental nations - Germany, Italy and France - all have new post-war political parties (in Italy it's not that long ago that the 'Conservative' Christian Democrats fell apart to be replaced by the more successful - and less pro-EU - Forza Italia).

The UK is the only large EU nation which has not seen one or both of its two main parties replaced since WW2.

The number here in the UK who voted in the 1992 General Election but who do not now use their ballot is 9 million. Many of these people could opt for UKIP or other anti-EU parties.
