Default The worst place to live?

http://www.inthenews.co.uk/infocus/features/in-focus/the-worst-place-live-$455392.htm

Quote:
Hackney, in east London, has been ranked as the worst place to live in the UK in a new property survey.

The London borough came bottom of a Channel 4 poll ranking Britain's 434 local council areas, based on five criteria looked for buy homebuyers - levels of crime, the environment, lifestyle, education and employment.
London came off very poorly.

Quote:
Hitting back at the survey, Hackney mayor Jules Pipe accused Channel 4 producers of pandering to "middle England snobbery".

"Of course Hackney has problems, as do all inner-city boroughs, but it is an amazing place to live," he said.

"It is diverse and exciting with fantastic architecture, a vibrant arts and cultural scene, and a bright future as an Olympic borough."
Which all goes to show, one mans vibrant wonderland, is another mans cesspit.

What the whole of Manchester? Yes, that is truly barmy, though a few pockets here and there within Manchester are probably a bit grim. (When I knew the place, Hulme and Moss Side would both have proudly featured in any list of the worst places to live.)

Islington is hardly an area of squalid inner-city deprivation, either. I wonder what the criteria were for drawing up this list?

The criteria are in the opening post here.

Don,t know why only these 5 were used.

Watch the programme on the 26th, perhaps it might explain how they come to their conclusions. It get's done every year now, so I would hope there is some method to the madness.

I would imagine the Manc accents drag a few points off the score, along with being the home of Man Utd.

Maybe the fact 90% of the jobs are make jobs, supplied by this government don't help either.

(BTW Northern Chums, I am joking)

I'm not surprised Hackney is the worst, Diane Abbott is their MP!

She is anti-EU. The problem is, in her case, a whole range of left wing ideas and views come with that  . One of the two Hackney MP's used to be the extreme europhile Stanley Clinton-Davies (now a Labour Peer).

As for the list above - I don't know what the great City of Nottingham is doing on the list. Is this list some sort of joke?

Nottingham = gun central and drug crime.

Hence this rating I suspect.
