Default Christopher Booker speech at Bruges group meeting

Well worth reading in full.

... All these, and many more, are issues which cry out for a response based on robust, democratic, common sense Conservative principles. But what do have instead? We have a "Not The Conservative Party", led by a man who would prefer not to talk about any of these things. A man who would rather be seen on the internet washing up porridge bowls in his kitchen than talk about the truly horrifying and tragic mess facing our troops in Afghanistan.

I'm sorry to say this, but I really do hope that what we are looking at here is just another interregnum. It's time the politics of our country got back to the real world.
I'm also sorry to say this but we could well be looking at the next Prime Minister here not another interregnum. With his support for state funding of political parties (please note the BBC politics show took great care not to mention the word taxpayer in their Tuesday afternoon discussions) and an apparent weakening of opposition to ID Cards a Brown or Reid Labour Party offering 'tax cuts' might be no worse an option than that bunch.

I have to say, if I think the Tories have a chance of winning under this clown, I may have to vote tactically.
