Coursework not to count

I see Labour are to scrap coursework counting in GCSE maths. Coursework needs to be removed from all other exams (as is now UKIP policy).

It's blatantly obvious that it is open to abuse allowing work done anywhere by anyone to count towards GCSE or A level grades.

I wish the media and others would stop making out that the problem is somehow crucially linked to the development of the internet - that has simply given more ways of cheating.

I see Sarah Teather is worried about this "disadvantaging" those that don't "perform at their best" in exams. It will mainly disadvantage those from middle class homes and give bright kids from poor homes a chance to shine.

The nonsense is rife in higher education now also.

I hope the government is ok with the prospect of a big fall in the numbers of our schoolchildren achieving good exam results then.

Indeed. If they really go for straight maths exams the results will be disastrous/hilarious - although I suppose they will manage to give full marks even with the wrong answers.

Exams will just continue to get easier!!
It is plain for all to see exams are getting easier.
over the last to years the following have all increase:
Trauncy, no. of attacks on teacher, no. of children excluded but somehow despite are this exam results also increase. Something just doesnt add up!!
