Default English Traditional Counties Maps

http://www.englishdemocrats.org.uk/images/areamap.jpg

We've combined the "Euro-Regions" with our English Traditional Counties !

Once we are out of the EUssr we can make the Areas more traditional

ie, Wessex, East Anglia, North, Midlands etc

I agree that terms such as Wessex and East Anglia and maybe even Mercia, would, could, come back into general use, but I would doubt the benefit of creating these as regions as they would probably evolve into mini-states comprised of several counties. It would only be a matter of time before these mini-kingdoms started campaigning for their own independence from England! In fact, I am sure there used to be, maybe still, is a Wessex Regional Party, it certainly fought in the 1979 GE.

Besides, they are more historical terms than actual traditional terms, with the exception of the likes of East Anglia.

maybe even Mercia
If we could agree where it is! Even poor old Offa had problems defining the boundary. I think there have been four Mercias, each one slightly shifted around. A bit like Poland!
