Top Tory blogger and failed Tory candidate Iain Dale has created his list of top UK political blogs. I'm not qualified to comment on the Lib Lab Con blogs as I don't look at practically any of them though Guido Fawkes and ConHome seem worthy overall blog winners as I do sometimes go to those places - especially if they are talking about UKIP! So I have looked at the top 100 Non-Aligned blogs. That simple headline should be enough to render the whole book (for it is also to be for sale at £10) worthless. UKIP, Green, DUP, SF, BNP, Respect etc etc blogs are all Non-Aligned according to Dale - if he was willing to consider them for inclusion that is. That inclusion or otherwise may well represent the true story about the book. If so I hope it is exposed rapidly. In reverse order, Trevor Kavanagh is at 85. I might think he should be higher but is probably lower down due to a lack of updates. Peter Hitchens is at 66. He has 25 plus replies to his recents logs so that seems a bit harsh. UKIP Home is at 34. It also makes number 79 in the all time top 100. "Yes, I extended a small olive branch and Iain kindly reciprocated, so we're back on good terms." http://www.ukiphome.com/comments.asp?sid=414 No other rational reason seems possible as to how that blog is at 34/79. The vast majority of posts there have 0 responses and I would think only around a dozen individauls have posted comments there. However whether I like it or not the Tory Dale has spoken and that site will probably benefit quite a bit as a result. Putting things in perspective BBC Political editor Nick Robinson is at 24 and the globally popular eureferendum.blogspot.com run by Richard North is at 17. None of the blogs mentioned except for ukiphome explicitly imply support for any political party. Do the other parties not do blogs? I'd've thought the Greens would be keen on blogs and like it or not Nick Griffin has a blog that I suspect is read by many. Are any of the other blogs mentioned by Dale clearly partisan in favour of a party? I really don't know. Or is the truth perhaps that Dale has done a big favour to his mate in including his blog in what is otherwise a genuine review of non-aligned blogs. Or does Dale see ukiphome as a non-aligned blog? An inquiring mind needs to know! |
