(Comments on George Osborne's Diary)

Talk about "Diary of a Nobody"

Osborne should go back to kindergarten - preferably wearing his ridiculous cycling outfit (see "Tory Diary")

We need a grown-up Shadow Chancellor.

Editor

You have a great website which I am sure we all appreciate very much. I am sure we all also recognise that we can only read and post here thanks to your kind self. In that light I am sure that we all (despite or because I am sure we are all "grown up") take your requests with the seriousness and grace they deserve. That will however not change the fact that there are Conservative supporters and voters (including some of us who have read and contributed to your website from the outset) that to put it lightly remain unimpressed if not dismayed by the Cameron leadership. As I have said before there is hardly a day goes by without my cringing at what the current leadership has to say. Perhaps they do not deserve to be taken seriously?

Aaah, it's sweet. The secret diary of George Osborne, aged 35 and a 1/4.

I can't wait to find out about he enjoys the train ride and all the other exciting things he will get up to.

The Editor is bound to say that we should not be personal in our attacks, but it is a fine line to draw if the problem is the person.
I agree that on the internet we don't want to broadcast character
assassinations as this is the least attractive and easiest form of attack, but I do agree with esbonio's view above. Our great party has been hijacked by Blair wannabes and all three parties are
fighting to keep the support of the so-called (minority) centre ground. Tax is the main bread & butter issue, and if 10 million people want to emigrate because of high tax ( recent newspaper survey), the Conservative leadership should take this on board. There can be no econonmic stability with high taxation because it is self evident that less spending power creates recession. The only way to have economic stability is to slash taxes and start returning the GBP9000 per family that the Labour Government has taken from us since 1997. Lord Tebbit has rightly said that the left and right of the political spectrum are being ignored, and together with the traditional non-voters, they now jointly form the majority of the electorate. Bromley showed how popular Cameron is ( despite the popularity polls)and frankly, if a man sounds like a buffoon, acts like a buffoon, then he probably is a buffoon.

I am getting increasingly fustrated with the quality of threads on this site, I think ConservativeHome is a fantastic site, and a great asset to our cause, however a number of people with an axe to grind are continually hi-jacking it. I'm embarrased to think what a non-partisan visitor would make of it sometimes. If this carries on I can see many bloggers with much to add drifting away, which would be a great shame.

I would agree with your post Oberon. As regards people drifting away that already seems to be happening if you look at the 'community section' where are all the people who used to post so regularly?
It seems that an increasing number of people just like to post personal insults to the leadership every day.Apart from anything else it becomes very dull.
I really do wonder if somwe of these people are just trolls trying to ruin a fine blog.

I don't think that they are. I think that most of them, like me, are concerned by the the strange policies that are being espoused in the name of the Conservative party. And Mr Osborne, with his colourful past, must expect that the older members of this blogging community will look to him to demonstrate a newly-acquired maturity, character and an ability to think radically about his brief: for my part, at present, I can only see him as a telegenic lightweight who would be more at home on Richard & Judy's sofa rather than the Front Bench.

Osborne's comments on these high speed trains just confirms what most of already thought - he is very low grade.

I don't know what is more scary the prospect of Brown as PM or Osborne as Chancellor.

Who'se asking for Cameronhome Chad? Certainly not me as I think you very well know. I have no gripes with the editorial on this site even when I don't agree with it but the endless personal attacks (like yours above) and those on many threads recently become very wearing and boring.
The debates on the '100 policies'threads are in my opinion are of a much higher standard.

It's Tim's blog but Oberon & malcolm are pointing out that if there is a proponderance of/multiple posts from people unwilling to engage in discourse, or offer any form of reasoned arguments, who's input is often infantile abuse, then this blog will suffer the loss of many conservatives who don't feel at home. Trolls kill blogs but so does occupation & estrangement. ConservativeHome ceases to be that when most Conservatives don't bother visiting.

There are many sceptical Conservatives who have reservations about the direction the party is taking and put well reasoned arguments but even they are posting less and less. Instead we get malevolent and hysterical accusations of treachery, re-cycled Monday Club speeches from twenty plus years ago, talk of party being hijacked etc.

Independent UKIP has some supporters
Default

I believe the Chad whose post is quoted and who is also referred to in another post is currently a UKIP member who has extremely strong objections to people who aren't currently supporters and/or members of UKIP contributing to a UKIP oriented forum. I don't know much about the troll concept but he sure appears to be a troll at conhome. On the basis of his own principles he is taking the **** out of those poor tories. I might normally enjoy the irony but it reflects double standards which is discreditable to UKIP in my opinion because it is hypocritical and dishonourable.
