A report released today which interviewed over a thousand people from across Britain has revealed that 8 out of 10 people would "use anything at hand to defend themselves if faced with an intruder" even if that meant the use of a weapon such as a knife and them being charged themselves as a result.
Of the men interviewed, 13% said they would use a knife and 10% said they would use a gun. Over 80% of those interviewed also said it was unfair for people to be prosecuted for using weapons to defend their property from intruders. Also, of the phone in show I was listening to at work today, all the participants were unanimously in favour of the report's findings saying that it was perfectly acceptable to take whatever means necessary to defend your property from attack. I say it's about time this issue was brought into the public debate. People have a right to be annoyed that the rules regarding the defence of your own proprty, which you may have worked long and hard for or may be of a high personal value, are ambiguous at best. What is the UKIP line on this issue? Personally, I agree with the general opinion that people should be allowed to use any means at their disposal to defend their property from attack.
