Default Wilson 'plot': The secret tapes

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk_politics/4789060.stm

Quote:
Harold Wilson's belief that he was the victim of a secret service plot to discredit him is well documented.

But new revelations in BBC drama documentary The Plot Against Harold Wilson, to be broadcast next Thursday, suggest the Labour prime minister was also convinced he was the target of plans to stage a military coup - and that the Royal Family backed it.

The story sounds barely credible - a sign, perhaps, that Wilson was suffering from paranoia - but it is backed up by corroborating interviews with other senior figures from the time.
Ever get the impression our "democracy" is just a puppet show?

What they don't go on to say, is that these "dark forces" have never been eradicated in any way.

Bluemerle is just starting out
Default

The Lavender List last week BBC 4 showed that Marcia Faulkener was really in charge of the Wilson Cabinet, she ruled the roost. Wilson gave a peerage to James Goldsmith because he was prepared to put Marcia on his boarad of directors  despite the fact that Jimmy Goldsmith gave money to the Tories.

Default Wilson plot

I don't see how the europhile Wilson was in any position to complain about plots. I'm sure I heard/read somewhere that the Labour Government he once led allegedly plotted to release a chemical on the London Underground in a test to see what affect it would have on unsuspecting passengers.

Maybe other readers of this thread no more about this story and if it's true...
