ProgCon Joins UKIP Members in Condemning Potentially Racist Undertones of UKIP News Releases
(PRWEB) January 31, 2006 -- The Centre for Progressive Conservatism (ProgCon), a champion of a pro-European Alliance alternative to a federalist or superstate E.U. today officially joined regular UK Independence Party (UKIP) members in condemning recent news releases from UKIP with potentially racist undertones. ”The very fact that UKIP has been heavily criticised by its own members, including the chairman of UKIPWales, for publishing a reproduced story over the rise of the ‘non-white population’ of the UK as the ‘top story’ on its official website homepage highlights the very dangerous territory that UKIP seems to be drifting into. With its party members now openly questioning online whether UKIP should merge with BNP (“Might as well announce the merger with the BNP now and be done with it.”), UKIP has clearly lost its sense of direction and may be seeking a new, more dangerous direction. The UKIP leaders may seek to argue that they have only reproduced a news article from the Telegraph, but its own members have clearly understood and been outraged by the potential nature of recent website news releases.” said Chad Noble, founder of ProgCon. As I opined recently, there are two clearly identifiable factions within UKIP, the reactionary Tory one with a concern over immigration and the libertarian one which has vocal support on this forum especially among the moderators. The latter has much in common with the still in existence "old" Liberal Party, those that refused to merge with the SDP back in the early eighties.
As for any possible "merger" with the BNP, I can assure you this is out of the question. Leaving race issues aside, UKIP believes in free trade while the BNP believes in a degree of protectionism. The BNP are British Nationalists and for those who wish to discover more about the party's policies, I suggest that you visit the BNP website, rather than for me to go INTO phpbb_them here. We do however welcome former members of UKIP INTO phpbb_our ranks, a trend that is increasing every day. |

Any monkey can issue a press release now adays.
Hard to argue with much of what he said. It was a stupid thing to put on the site.

No mention in the piece that BI&D forum is an open one or indeed an unofficial one, something the writer was at great pains to tell us previously. Whilst there is some truth in what was said,it just comes across as the disingenuous rantings of someone who couldn't be big enough to emulate that what has been achieved here (genuine pressure on party leadership),indeed he wasn't even big enough to ADMIT that was what he was doing in the first place! As for UKIP losing its way, perhaps Chad should look closer inward, afterall where has the Progcon forum gone? I can see another party looming somewhere for Christina....... ![]() |

As %age points out, the Progcon forum link has been removed from Chad's homepage. Of course I was banned from his forum months ago but I'm guessing Chad doesn't want to upset his Tory friends with a site containing any independent thought at all. These days he's busy contributing to the conservativehome.com forum instead. I posted to this for a while, being careful to observe their ridiculously strict rules, but then I had the temerity to explain how I split the Tory vote in Portsmouth North and - worse still - to praise the new Labour MP for that constituency. I was instantly banned,. |

Didn't we have a UKIP supporter here (was he a moderator?) who said he was going to support the BNP's Trafalgar Club, and was then talked out of it on-line by aghast colleagues?
I'm sure I didn't dream that one up... As I've said many times before, I think people are wrong to support the BNP because of the negative profile of leading activists, but I can understand how rampant immigration and race problems might lead many decent people in that direction, including UKIP supporters past present and future. I suggest that we concentrate more on criticising the unattractive background of BNP leaders and less upon their 'racism'. |

changing membership of parties happens all the time. Don't read too much INTO phpbb_it but, if it's happening, good riddance. How do you get the data on their previous political allegiance though?[/quote]
New members are invariably visited by their local branch organizer as we are an active party and wish people to get involved with leafleting, canvassing, selling newspapers etc. We are invariably told by former UKIP members and supporters that they wanted to be part of a movement that did something rather than moaned about the EU over a gin and tonic in the evening. |
