C_steam is just starting out
Default Ministers lose powers over sex offenders.

Interesting...

Quote:
Ministers are to lose the power to decide if sex offenders can work in schools, the BBC has learned. The proposal is one of the first conclusions of a policy review which has been taking place this weekend.

BBC political correspondent John Pienaar said: "Ruth Kelly's statement will explain how the various registers of offenders, and those barred from working with children, will be brought together.

"It's now acknowledged at every level of Government that the system of controlling sex offenders' seeking jobs in schools is, in the words of one senior official, 'a mess'."

He said in the future decisions about who can and cannot work in schools will be taken by people closer to the ground with greater specialist knowledge.
Any guesses? could it be our dear old politicised police force?

I will be glad to see politicians removed from the equation. I hope the courts will now have the final say and if people are deemed to need to be put on a list, then they shouln't be alowed anywhere near a school.

Being put on this list should involve the same process as any other crime.
