Default Veritas regret to announce the resignation of Kilroy-Silk

Released 29 Jul 2005

Veritas regret to announce the resignation of Robert Kilroy Silk as Party Leader effective immediately (see press release)

The party and its members wish him well in the future and we are sure Robert will continue to campaign on the issues that concern the majority of the people in the UK.

Those are issues that Veritas will also continue to champion in the future as we develop both the party and our policies.

There is a standing commitment from Veritas that there will be a leadership election in the Autumn with the result being announced at the Veritas A G M on September the 18th. This will be honoured along with the votes promised on other subjects.

There will be another statement put on this web site Monday morning regarding the way forward for Veritas.

Patrick Eston
Veritas Party Chairman

It was clear from the General Election result - and more recently that of the Cheadle by-election – that the electors are content with the old parties and that it would be virtually impossible for a new party to make a significant impact given the nature of our electoral system. We tried and failed.

It is also the case that it is impossible to have an effective political party without a central administration and significant financial support. We have neither.

In the circumstances I would be misleading the members of the party and the public if I pretended that we could make progress. I’m not prepared to do that. We must face up to the truth.
That my friends, is the Veritas.

But the real Veritas is, that Veritas can now move forward without obstacles - watch what happens now
The Eurosceptic movement will at long last have a real banner to follow.
Veritas will continue my friends,

UKIP MEP Derek Clarke, who like Mr Kilroy-Silk represents the East Midlands, meanwhile said the ex-chatshow host should quit the European Parliament
He has no intention of doing that, which I think is very disapointing. If he actually does bother to turn up and do something, then that will be something, but sitting on a beach in Spain, collecting his wages is not on.

I notice that both threads (RKS resignation & Easton's anouncment) were imediatley locked on Talk Veritas due to what seems to be paranoia concerning any libal writs.

They dont seem to have the ingrediants required for a "straight-talking" party do they?

The only option i can see open to them is to close up shop & start again.

Is it worth it ?

I think what is left within the Veritas "bomb-crater" will probably start afresh under a new banner.

Perhaps a wise move.

Default New name for Veritas needed

Veritas needs to ditch its ridiculous name - it will never catch on on the council estates. It sounds like an insurance company. The purple colour for its logo and literature should also go.

UKIP should become a fully-fledged political party with a broad range of policies that appeal to the wider electorate. Both UKIP and Veritas should retain their commitments to unconditional EU withdrawal. As a fully operational political party, UKIP would become a viable choice to lead an 'alliance' of anti-EU parties at the polls (or to be the main part of a single, united, revamped anti-EU political party).

Veritas should move towards establishing a co-operation agreement with UKIP and the English Democrats on the fielding of candidates/seats contested to avoid duplication. Serious talk should commence on the possible re-unification of the three parties INTO phpbb_one larger electoral force (minus the elements in Veritas whose actions led to the highly-publicised and damaging division).

The 'splintering' of anti-EU forces over the last 12 months does not serve the interests of the campaign against EU membership. Efforts should be made by those in Veritas, UKIP and the English Democrats to work together.
