Subject: Chairs speach to the Veritas Leicester Branch 26 July 2005
Would you please pass this onto the following Party Leader, Deputy Leader I have not got their contact details thanks.
Tuesday, 26 July 2005
Dear Party Leader, Deputy Leader, Party Chairman, Party Secretary
As Chair of the Leicester Veritas Branch Association I have had various discussions with Party Chairman and Party Secretary regarding the legality of the Veritas Constitution and the legality of the suspension of the four Veritas Members.
I am asked to inform you of the Branches decision of the Veritas constitution and the suspension of four members of the party.
Tonight at the Leicester Veritas Party Branch Association meeting held on the 26th July 2005 at the Abby Hotel Leicester after some discussion, there was unanimous support and agreement to the Chair statement to the Branch as follows:
Chairs statement to the Branch Association
It is now almost 8 months since Veritas constitution was submitted to the electoral commission in December 2004. The Veritas party is in crises not to believe that would be irresponsible, the members rightly or wrongly have lost confidence in the party.
We have all worked hard to get the party back on track we still lack a united party the Leicester Branch will move heaven and earth over the next few months to inspire motivate and lead our party.
It is now to you as the Veritas Leicester Branch Association that I feel bound to speak in the most serious terms. I as the Chairman I have brought these posting to you tonight because, I ask all of you to recognise that no party can conduct its business in this way, it is totally and utterly unacceptable.
Claims and counterclaims about the behaviour of others actual or perceived errors of judgement or procedures, the Veritas Party would not benefit the Veritas dream would be no nearer to fulfilment.
There are some wonderful people in the party, it is an area of immense potential, that potential can be realised. I plead with you not to sacrifice the chance of the party. If we even consider going down the route of suspensions, inquiries or investigations we put the whole party at risk and the members of Veritas would be justified in accusing us of their betrayal.
We must be united and confident. There is no other way members have been very professional with a high commitment to moving forward. The real test for the party would be how they behaved and whether they could actually deliver to the people of the United Kingdom.
All must work together and there should be a strong commitment to the Veritas Party we must consider the following.
The Legality of the Veritas Constitution
The Legality of the suspension of Veritas Members
A draft Veritas Constitution was submitted to the Electoral Commission in December 2004. I have looked at that document and I have to come to the conclusion that the Veritas constitution which was submitted has never been ratified by party members as required in Paragraph 18.1. Which states very clearly that (it is not in force until the majority of members have approved it).
I seek your unanimous agreement, as from tonight I ask you for your united resolve that we shall deliver what we have been asked to deliver. That we shall respect each other as individuals who are all working in a common cause to make the dream the vision a reality.
I seek your unanimous agreement that Veritas Constitution is unconstitutional
I seek your unanimous agreement the suspension of four Veritas Members is unconstitutional
Ray Ross
Chair Leicester
It was proposed and seconded that a vote of confidence in the Chair and Committee of the Veritas Party Branch Association be taken. THIS WAS AGREED UNANIMOUSLY
It was further proposed and seconded if the Board were minded to give their full support to the Chair, Committee and the Leicester Branch Association and their aims. THIS WAS AGREED UNANIMOUSLY
It was further proposed and seconded that the Party give 100% support to the Chairs statement and to the actions to be taken within that statement. THIS WAS AGREED UNANIMOUSLY.
