Default Blairs Presidency

Quote:
British leader Tony Blair meets with representatives of the European Parliament to discuss the UK’s EU presidency, which begins on July 1.

MEPs, including European Parliament President Josep Borrell and leaders of political groupings, will quiz Blair about London’s view on the EU’s constitution crisis and a row over the future of EU budgets.
MEP's to tell our PM what to do? Good grief have they grown teeth?

Quote:
Blair yesterday beat off an attack by French Jacques Chirac over the UK’s annual €5 billion EU rebate. Chirac had called on Blair to surrender the cash back as a “gesture of solidarity”, London retorted that the UK paid “two and a half times” what Paris pays INTO phpbb_EU coffers. “That is our gesture,” said Blair.
I can think of a better gesture, the old Agincourt salute!

Quote:
Chirac and German leader Gerhard Schroeder meet in Paris today for talks ahead of next week’s EU summit.
Ah; where the agenda for Blair's Presidency will be decided by the real power brokers.

Quote:
France is looking for a ‘plan B’ after the May 29 referendum rejection of the EU constitution and Chirac is set to broach a closer Franco-German “union” as a way forward.
Plan B no doubt is to take back Constitution 1, shuffle the paragraphs and represent it as Constitution 2.

That way Blair & Chirac, who promised their people referndums on the constitution can turn around and say;

"That promise was with regards to Con' 1, I made no such promise on Con' 2. We've listened to what you have said; We've forced through valuable concessions, its now tickety boo and We're going to ratify as the project is falling behind schedule".

Quote:
But Schroeder is set to snub Chirac’s overtures. A Berlin spokesman yesterday said a Franco-German union is not “a current political question of topicality”.

And German foreign minister Joschka Fischer sarcastically asked “if the French government hoped to subject it to a referendum”.
there's an important phrase in this section:-

a Franco-German union is not “a current political question of topicality”.

Its not current ergo it must have been and may well be again in the future and I suspect that Joschka Fischer will pay for his remark. The frecnch don't take kindly to sarcasm.

I bet Bliar is salivating at the thought of him being president of the EU. Indeed once he gets a taste, he will probably be even more determined to sell Britain out, so he can make the position permanent.

I have to say, I am struggling to see how they are going to be able to con the people INTO phpbb_accpeting giving away the rebate and getting a constitution through.

Some sort of terror attack perhaps, that usualy helps sell and bad idea.

Default His Munificent Exaltedness

Exaclty. And if that terror attack can be somehow linked to 'right wing extremists' like UKIP then the happier Blair will be.

It's just a question of spin.

I wonder if Blair will be the latest in the long line of presidents to be assassinated? That would be a good day to bury bad news.
