Default Are Tories heading for internecine fighting?

I like to think I am reasonably seasoned in the ways of British politics. The notion of the lame-duck has been around for a long time. Why then did Michael Howard conceivably think he could carry on until the end of the year? He's made himself a lame-duck. Why on earth?!

The Tories are still not capable of being seen as the "natural party of government" without some idea of leadership :?

Independence Now! is just starting out
Default

Mr Howard wants to stay leader untill the Autumn or later for one reason only: so he can change the party's leadership rules and prevent David Davies from winning the crown and thereby ensure a 'moderniser' such as the Harry Enfield Tory Boy character David Cameron succeeds him!
