In Brussels MEPs threw out proposals to control their allowances and pension pots. Conservatives, Labour, Liberal Democrats, Ukip and others voted for the reforms, including fines and suspension for gross financial irregularities, but the Labour MEPs Eluned Morgan and Stephen Hughes voted against some, while Robert Kilroy-Silk, the former Ukip member, abstained.
