Quote:
On November 6, 2003, at a dinner at the Deputy Prime Minister's flat, the Prime Minister – exhausted by Iraq and alarmed by the succession of Michael Howard to the Tory leadership – told his Chancellor: "I know I must leave, but I need your help to get through the next year." Shortly after the Budget in March last year, the Prime Minister told Mr Brown that he intended to step down in the autumn.
Quote:
Peston's book makes clear that Mr Blair reneged on this deal not only because he was lobbied so intensely by a group of Cabinet ministers desperate to see him stay in Number 10, but because the local and European election results in June persuaded him that Mr Howard had failed to revive the Tory party. By this point, it was also clear that – as messy as the aftermath of the Iraq conflict had proved – it had not caused support for Labour to haemorrhage in the party's electoral heartlands.
Tony Blair, a lying, backstabbing, two faced career merchant? Who would have thought it!

Tony Blair has insisted he did not make a deal with Gordon Brown to hand him the premiership.

The Prime Minister said "you don't do" deals over top Government jobs. And he said he and the Chancellor were focused on the issues facing the country and not who was in Number 10.
Tony Bliar can't help lying can he? How does anyone trust a word this man says any more?

Clare Short, an ex-cabinet minister, and now Gordon Brown have both called him a liar! There is nothing worse in my book and when people who are supposed to be his own team say it, then you have to wonder how he is still there!

Gordon Brown has made an appeal for unity after reports claimed Mr Blair went back on a pledge to stand down before the next general election.

The chancellor would not comment on the reports, but insisted he would not be "diverted or distracted" from tackling the challenges faced by the country.
While I despise Blair with all my being (no I am not exaggerating
), I am losing more and more respect for Brown. He is clearly a two-faced manipulator, just like his nemesis Blair. These are the kind of people that run our nation at the moment!

No wonder polititians have lost the trust and respect of the people, when this kind of thing is the norm.

Gorgon Brown is just as bad as Bliar, that has been clear for some time. Just as deceitful, he often leaves the bad bits of his budgets to be rooted out of the paperwork rather than mention it in the HoC speech.

He has waged economic war on all savings and pensions, while giving away vast sums pointlessly, like this baby bond nonsense.
