Default Dear Tory candidate, you are sacked for being idle

Quote:
THE Conservatives are to purge their laziest candidates after an unprecedented screening process designed to identify those making the least impact in their target seats.

Liam Fox, the party chairman, is to send official warnings to candidates who have failed to secure a profile in the local media or enough pledges from potential voters.

Candidates who do not improve rapidly will be either asked to step down or fired by Conservative Central Office, which has produced a list of reserve candidates who can be sent in to fight at short notice.

For weeks, Tory head office has been monitoring its candidates’ performances in the 187 seats it has identified as marginal - and which will be almost the entire focus of its campaign.

Officials have been measuring the "pledge list" each candidate has been asked to compile and assessing the impact they are making. "The vast majority are performing better than we’ve seen candidates perform in years," said one official. "But there are a number of places where they are not producing the pledges they need."

Five candidates have gone already, and a fresh cull is expected next month.

Constituencies affected will be sent a short list hand-picked by Central Office and asked to make a quick decision - on the unspoken understanding that they made the wrong choice first time round.
Quote:
The screening process does not extend to the 308 remaining seats that the Conservatives do not expect to win, and, four months away from the expected election date, the party has still to find candidates for 260 constituencies.

Thats it, resort to the tactics of fear and the stick. Keep that up and you won't have any supporters or voters left come the election.

This just goes to show you how desperate the Tory leadership are becoming. Now all remaining Tory voters can see who is leading their party and get out now before it's too late.

Me too ... it will be my regular Sunday morning occupation until election day.

Which may be more than 122 days away.

Or less.

On the original topic - do y'all realise we may well have more canditates than the Conservatives?

The implications of that are worth thinking about.

What with both L&C parties having internal differences and what with them agreeing on all the major issues ... added to this the fact that the majority of folks in the UK want out ofthe EU as do the majority of small businesses ... and as I learned today the majority of the big business folks also want out of the EU ... things are looking favorable.

Hell, if everyone who wanted out of the EU voted UKIP we'd have a landslide victory which would put Labour's landslide to shame.

It can happen.

Believe it.

It will keep you going when 'tis pouring with rain, bitterly cold and you still have another 350 leaflets to deliver ...

And to those folks who cannot be bothered - think about it: supposing your candidte lost by a narrow margin. How would you feel knowing that by giving up just one day a wek for a miserly few weeks you could have made a difference.

The only folks who fail are those who give up ...

Sshh! Don't go saying things like that (even if 'tis true which I'm not suggesting it is and would deny it even if it were which it ain't) otherwise folks will think we have some kind of deal.

It would be a fun thing if neither Lab nor Con fielded candidates in the same constituency.

Could be a two-horse race 'twixt the Libs and the UKIP ... unless by a stroke of genius the Libs never fielded a candidate in that constituency either.

We are living in a crazy world full of crazy people and crazy things will happen.

I firmly, and without reservation, predict some totally unexpected results this coming election.

Surely expecting the unexpected is a contradiction in terms.

There's an old jewish proverb - Everything that happens is possible!"

Why's everyone up so late tonight? I've been getting posting alerts quicker than I can read the messages....

I'm knackered... and sober too - not a good mix...
