And not a mention anywhere about the train ticket that would have caused nightmares for any other public sector employee.

" We have no plans to introduce University top-up fees, and have legislated to prevent their introduction". (Labour Manifesto)

"Top-up fees are the new way of charging students for study at British universities. Legislation to enable the introduction of top-up fees was proposed by the Labour Party Secretary of State for Education, Charles Clarke and became law in the Higher Education Act 2004."

The Labour Party have publicly defended this decision, by saying that the manifesto commitments only apply to the current (2001 - 2006?) Parliament, and that the legislation introducing top-up fees will not take effect this Parliament.

Never feel sorry when a man of pure evil goes!

Unfortunately Clarke does back ID cards as well, so will have to be hounded out of office also. They bring it on themselves.

But lets celebrate one good day! All the boards I use have been fairly universally dancing on his political grave.

Howard made a huge mistake backing ID cards, it has lost him votes.

I think "Evil" is over the top.
I always rather liked Blunkett.
No need to dislike a person just 'cos you dislike their policies.

I wouldn't be at all suprised if the whole thing was engineered by Blair anyway ... he seems to have had Clarke standing by in the wings ...

Apparently Blair wrote him a letter a couple of weeks ago - but he had not read it.

- A normal person would have seen this coming !

One bad policy may be an error. All of them is inherent evil.

I dare say even the devil can be good company! Sometimes.

Daily Mail article
Quote:
David Blunkett faces accusations that "lies" were told during the visa row that forced him to quit as Home Secretary.

The charge came as new details of Sir Alan Budd's inquiry INTO phpbb_the "nannygate" affair came to light.

They show a series of statements by Mr Blunkett and his spokesman were not true, the Evening Standard reports.

That could end hope of a comeback for Mr Blunkett if borne out in Sir Alan's report, due next week.

A timeline agreed with Sir Alan for the MP's use when he dramatically quit on Wednesday night is published by the paper.

Speaking before it was made public, shadow home secretary David Davis said: "My suspicion is that lies have been told."

Mr Blunkett initially said he simply took an application form from Leoncia Casalme, nanny to his former lover Kimberly Quinn, INTO phpbb_the office to have it read to him.

However, the timeline states: "David Blunkett believed he had read the form with a private secretary at this stage and checked it over before handing back to Kimberly Quinn.

"He believed that was his only involvement with the application but it now appears the form did not come to the Home Secretary's Office."

Instead, Mr Blunkett became involved after Mrs Quinn showed him a letter warning the nanny her visa could take a year to process.

I hope they throw the book at him. The more people see the kind of person his is in reality, the less chance we have of a comeback.

Then again Blair thinks he is indestructable now, he would have him back if he had killed someone.
