Seriously, why don't Labour and the Tories merge? They are so close together of 99% of policies that they would form quite big force in politics. It remove all the pretence of them being in "opposition" and the name of the new party could be the Pro-EU Nanny Ideology State party. Or PENIS for short.

FreeUK how read my post again before throwing the hypocritical slur around. Its the whole point of avoiding being seen to be so that Howard has gone against the shadow cabinets wishes.
Davies - The Tory party is anti-government interference. |

Tell me one (1) anti-interference Tory policy that the present lot have actually committed to. (As versus, floated an unofficial "trial balooon", stated a personal position not backed by official party policy, made stirring speeches lacking substantive detail, railed against the problem with no commitment as to the solution, etc etc.) You probably can't. If you can, chances are you had to rummage and dig to find it. |

Allowing headteachers to expel pupils without recourse to higher authority, low taxation by default low government interference, allowing patients to use capacity outside the NHS - are a few off the top of my head.
Lower taxation really is the most obvious. No point announcing exactly what we are going to do until the run up to the election or Labour will attempt to nick the policies. The Republicans are pushing towards smaller government with tax cutting and pushing the voluntary charity groups in favour of state provision. But carry on telling all your Labour mates/activists you meet, that theres no difference between the Tory party and Labour, who really won the 1997 election, economic liberalisation carried on winning against tax and spend, Brown stuck to Tory spending plans for 4 years, regressing now but cest la vie. Blunket comes accross as a bit of a social conservative. Oh whats that we get Economic Liberalism, Social Conservatism oo ahh yeah a bit of a reheated Thatcherism. Turn up the volume guys about Labour being the same as the Tories, our membership and grassroots are revitalising (at Manchester Uni we signed up our highest number of activists 78 for CF) while every time someone says that Labour and Tories are the same the Labour grassroots haemorage members as the 'New Labour' idealogy carried the party as the party were hungry for power, but thats gone now. As about blue tinted glasses nonsense I frequently am critical of the party, I respect Howard I dont like him, I think the shadow cabinet is poor letwin and davis in particular and I think CCO should **** off with their crappy little rules. |

But your party wants to be part of the EU and is for ID cards. The first point blows all your other policies out of the window, as Britain will have no say in anything, and the second one is the biggest nanny state measure ever.
How are all you True Blue youths going to sway your leaderships mind on this? I know you Dads and Grandads probably are members too. What are they doing to change the policies. Why doesn't your leadership represent your views?

Cos our election strategy is to cry over the Hague result and try to sit as firmly in the centre as possible, failing to realise that people can forgive stupid policies and mistakes providing you are what you are and you have a bit of character and are not bland. Some of our members have also been silly and buggered off to another party rather than try to fix the current one, and will indeed undermine the entire cause by electing lib dems and Labourites by standing versus Tories (even eurosceptic ones)
Under a Tory Govt the policy is that we would renegotiate and take it back to being a free area (bad as i believe in global free trade which blocks harm). The Tory party wont sign away our powers to have a 'say in anything' indeed we will take it back and if Europe and pro-europeans cry well tough ****, we will continue to oppose the EU Constitution. |

Unfortunately the Tory leadership know people are not aware of the facts. They have suckered a lot of good people INTO phpbb_supporting them, and while the number is still dewindling, they will get a some mugs to vote for them again.
Come on Tories get some balls and represent your membership, or disapear for good. We don't need a wolf in sheeps clothing!
