This is what I wrote ..............................

Bring Back an ENGLISH PARLIAMENT !!!!!!!!!

A body now called the English Parliament first arose during the thirteenth century, referred to variously as 'colloquium' and 'parliamentum'. It shared most of the powers typical of representative institutions in medieval and early modern Europe, and was arranged from the fourteenth century in a bicameral manner, with a House of Commons for the knights of the shire and burgesses and a House of Lords for the spiritual and temporal peers. The 'English' parliament (which also included representatives from Wales) ceased to exist as part of the parliamentary Act of Union of 1707 between the two kingdoms which created the Parliament of Great Britain.

Following the first elections to the newly created Scottish Parliament and Welsh Assembly and Northern Ireland Assembly in 1999 England was left as the only nation in the United Kingdom with no separate representative body, although the Northern Ireland Assembly has been subject to periods of suspension.

Please bring back our English Parliament

I have asked for our democracy and the right to determine our own future back from the EU.

English Democrat should understand that we do not want to go back to the Middle Ages. Instead of having and English 'parliament' to add to the worthless talking shops in Scotland, Ulster and Wales we want the British parliament running our affairs and withdrawing us from the EU and ending the policy of being a military puppet of the USA

Karen

If you can find a way of reversing devolution in Scotland and Wales then I'll be with you all the way.

- I'd put this one as Difficult to Very Difficult

- A federal UK is the answer

Regards

It can be done and would be easier than withdrawal from the EU. The Tories did it with the Greater London Council and civilisation in London did not end (I realise that this point is debatable!)
By the time we get round to it the 'parliaments' in Cardiff and Edinburgh will have vexed the people in that part of the country so much that they will be pleased when ther few useful functions are transferred to the counties. So pleased that they will not mind when the number of voters per constituency is evened up so taht English MPs have as much say as Scots, Welsh or Ulster ones.

Hopefully we can agree that the Status Quo is not acceptable and is unfair on England

A fair solution can be achived either by

Conversion of House of Commons to English Parliament (By removing Scots, Welsh and Irish Constituencies)

(And then conveted House of Lords INTO phpbb_British Senate to create a Federal UK)

or

Abolishing the Scotish, Welsh and Northern Irish Assemblies- hence just having one British Parliament.

Either way as far as I am concered would be fair to England.

The former I feel would be more politically acceptable - but I respect your right to disagree.

I think we are agreed that something needs to happen.

Hmm. The English have done bloody well out of Wales and Scotland over the last few hundred years (no Empire without coal, oil, and soldiers). It's only fair they sould get something back now.

If you're going to whine about "subsidising" those two countries, you can bloody well start by paying back, adjusted for inflation, the monetary equivalent of all the coal and oil you've had. That'll do, thanks very much.

Default Christmas

I can see why 'English Democrat' could not be a UKIP member. We are for small government, not multi-headed hydra spewing out their daily garbage quotient. Less, not more. Rather than create the English equivalent of Holyrood, we must dismantle all the Parliaments Labour has created. Most of Scotland now regret the day they were conned INTO phpbb_this White Elephant. The Scots are a majority in the Cabinet at Westminster, plus we have all those Scottish M.P.s and M.S.P.s - Duplication or what? UK = United Kingdom, not English, not Scottish not Welsh not Irish but British. Let Mr. Silk join you on your particular journey, as for UKIP, no thanks.

Cynic you are living in the past.

Do you really think the devolution that Labour have done (that I do not personally agree with) can be undone ?

Back to the Old British Parliament = fair

of

Parliaments for each Home Nation plus a British Senate (reformed house of lords) is also fair.

The current status quo is NOT fair.

Just to confirm that I am English 1st, British 2nd
