Lib-Dems and identity cards

Identity cards are about getting us in line for the EU central data-base. The Lib-Dems are enthusiasts for the EU. How come the Lib-Dems are against identity cards? Am I missing something? Please help.

I think that many Liberal Democrats are in a state of denial about the EU. What they want from the EU and what they actually get are two different things.
