Default Blair wants election agenda to include hope as well as fear

http://www.timesonline.co.uk/newspap...371078,00.html
Quote:
THE domination of security and anti-crime measures in the Queen’s Speech today has raised concerns within Whitehall that the government programme will appear “lop-sided” before the next election.
Among the 37 Bills to be announced are proposals for a national identity card scheme, an FBI-style serious crime agency, further crackdowns on antisocial behaviour and drugs, as well as plans to merge the prison and probation services.

The Home Office has been given guarantees that it will receive priority over other departments in the timetable of a parliamentary session likely to be cut short by a general election in the spring. David Blunkett, the Home Secretary, has even begun setting out his stall for third-term policies which, he says, will include antiterrorism courts without juries and the use of telephone intercepts in trials.

But Tony Blair has promised colleagues that he remains committed to a “twin-track” political strategy which emphasises opportunity and security or, as aides put it, “hope as well as fear”.
Remember that Blunkett said "hope not fear"? Well, Blair wants "hope and fear"

How sickening to hear that Blair actualy wants to use fear, on the people he is supposed to represent, to get his disgusting sell-out party elected again.

I think that ranks up with the comment about burying bad news on the day 9/11 happened.

This bunch of powermongers know no shame and have to be removed, quick smart!

I might have been nit-picking, but it was the main phrase of his statement, so I assume that he said what he meant. Perhaps he was taken out of context...?

No way, his aids confirmed what he meant. He is exposed az the manipulative scum that he is, willing to use any means possible to get elected. To actualy admit wanting to use fear on the people to help his wretched party get elected finaly confirms what levels he is willing to sink to.

It just makes me even more determined to get him and his cronies out of office. I bet the media don't even blink at this appauling admission.
