Default Milburn seeks limit on asylum

Quote:
ALAN MILBURN, Labour’s election chief, is on a collision course with David Blunkett over plans to “sharpen up” the government’s asylum and immigration policy.

Milburn believes the Tories have won a clear advantage by promising an annual limit for the number of asylum seekers and legal immigrants.

Tony Blair is “sympathetic” to adopting the Tory approach, having been advised that Labour can win the support of thousands of swing voters who say that the government is a “soft touch” on the issue.

The move is likely to be resisted by the Home Office, which has spent the past three years developing policies without putting a limit on numbers who can enter the country.
Once again, we see how the policies of the government are decided. I can't believe that the government is happy to be publicly shown to make decisions based on what will give them the maximum political advantage. I can certainly believe that they do it in private, but it would appear that they have no shame about throwing it in the public's face. Total contempt for the electorate.

I agree with Labour/The Tories for once, a limit is needed. 0 should be more than enough.

We were called a bunch of nazi right-wingers for making this suggestion FIRST!

At least we are influencing the other parties, if nothing else! Not enough though, why buy these cheap shoddy imitations when you can have the original and best, UKIP!
