Default Chancellor defiant as civil servants stage strike

Quote:
THOUSANDS of workers staged the biggest strike in the civil service for over a decade yesterday, forcing the closure of museums and disrupting driving tests, job centres, benefit offices and Customs.

Industrial relations have plunged to a new low because of a row over controversial plans to cut 100,000 jobs, with the threat of further walk-outs if the row is unresolved.

Thats what you get for treating people like dirt. Brown was right to look at whether all the civil servants were needed, but he should have done it with a lot more sesitivity for people. Just anouncing 100 000 people were going to be discarded, like rubbish on T.V. is not the sign of a good manager.

There are lots of better ways he could have reduced the numbers over time, without casuing all this pain and fuss.
