An article in the mail over the weekend (sorry, I can't reference it) also talked about the additional laws to be introduced with the ID card. i.e refusing to give information will be an offence, as will not informing of the loss of card or any change in your circumstance.
this needs fighting strongly |

We could have a competition to see who could register the most "lost cards" each year.
I am not sure about whether a political party should be seen to condone illegal behaviour though. Perhaps we should focus on reversing the decision by converting MPs to our stance. The problem is that Blunkett is able to maintain the image of being tough on crime and immigration, which will always enable him to hold the high ground against "liberals" such as ourselves. The party needs to reverse that public perception and make such authoritarian measures INTO phpbb_something unacceptable to the general public. I am not talking about a smear campaign, I am talking about a very tightly controlled media campaign that slowly builds up the attack. By having repeated references placed in the media using specifically chosen phrases, it is possible to change the way things are perceived; Labour do it all of the time. |

The added bonus is we all have to pay for the damned thing. It's a major **** up by a blundering idiot of a home secretary. He is a bully by nature and thinks he can steamroller his half baked ideas through without a whimper.
They probably would have got away with it if they announced a smart card that would combine passport, driving license, even credit cards etc. That would have saved costs, and people wouldn't have seen much difference. The fact that the government are changing the way society functions by effectivley making people it's inventory, would probably not been questioned. I refuse to accept the state owns me, and I will join in refusing a card. I will have a long wait though, as I don't need to renew my passport for 9 years! Of course this phasing in of the card makes it easier to bully the people INTO phpbb_taking it, divide and conquer always does!
