Default English Constitutional Convention

This took place in the Palace of Westminster today at 4pm
(20 October 2004)

Does anyone know why UKIP did not send a representative ?

I haven't heard anything about it. I imagine that the UKIP leadership have other things on their mind at the moment.

Economics of an English Parliament

Removal of all the Celt Constituenies from the British Parliament to make it INTO phpbb_an English Parliament will result in tremedous economic savings.

The House of Lords can then be become a Federal Upper Chamber for the UK dealing with Defence and Foreign Affairs

This has the following advantages

1 There will be enough seats in the English House of Commons for all English MP's to set down (rather messy at the moment with people sitting in the gang ways and standing at the entrance - especially at Question Time)

2 Kick out 71 Scots MP's
They earn about £80K a year plus £50K expenses
so that's 71 x £130K = £9.23 Million Saved by English Tax Payer

3 Kick out 39 Welsh MP's
They earn about £80K a year plus £50K expenses
so that's 39 x £130L = £5.07 Million Saved by English Tax Payer

4 Kick out the 18 Irish MP's
They earn about £80K a year plus £50K expenses
so that's 18 x £130K = £2.34 Million Saved by the English Tax Payer

So all in all the cost of an English Parliament so far is

Minus - £16.64 Million per year

5 Then of course we have the Barnet Formula
Saving the English Tax Payer - £30 Billion a year

6 The equivalent for Wales
Must be £5 Billion

7 The equivalent for Northern Ireland
Must be £10 Billion

So we now have a nett saving of something like

Just over £45 Billion per year for the English Tax Payer

===========================================

It only goes to prove that most MP's are THICK, as the idea of an English Parliament does not really need much to think about !

Why is it not a UKIP policy ?

I think UKIP are more focused on preventing all of the UK becoming an EU region. Perhaps once UKIP win power (I still hope it can happen one day), then they will look at how fair the UK is run itself.

The whole argument above will be null and void if we don't stop the EU dissolving the UK.

Clare Short blew the whistle on Blair again, showing us that he doesn't care about the U.K. He would join the Euro even if it was proven to be a disaster for us (which it would). All he cares about is becoming the first president of the USE, and taking all of his cronies with him.

Michael Hesletine gave the game away on question time. He said that the reason Europe has had wars, was due to the idea of nationhood. IE we should all disolve INTO phpbb_the EU sludge asap. What he doesn't say is this could mean massive wars with other blocks on this planet such as the USA and I guess civil wars never occured to him.

Nations don't cause wars, corrupt leaderships cause wars. Tony Blair take a bow!

If you are going to slag off the celtic peoples as a drain on mighty Ingerland then please don't forget to add in Kernow/Cornwall
a few constituencies down there to add to your cash total.

Hopefully one day there will be a chance for an aimicable separation between England and Scotland but like other commentators I believe the Euroland thing is now out of control and threatens all futures.

The UK Independence Party is about saving the whole of the UK from EU madness, not just England. I believe that we should have an English assembly just by not letting non-English MPs vote on English-only matters. But I also think that we should retain the UK Parliament.

I think that devolution (by which I mean a complete separation) is simply an artificial arrangement now. We already what the EU is aiming for; a union with combined armed forces, combined ministers, laws and so on. It works, so why break it?

Dear Anthony

Just to clarify

Independence = complete seperation

Devolution = self rule especially for interanl matters.

=================================

Defence and Foreign Policy, would be something where a common policy for England, Wales, Scotland and even Ireland would benefit us all.

Just to clarify I personally would not have voted for Devolution for Scotland, Wales and Ireland, however now that they have been silly enough to do so, then I see no reason why England should suffer

Population UK = 60 Million

Population England = 50 Million

Population Wales = 3 Million
Population Scotland = 5 Million
Popluation Northern Ireland = 2 Million

============================================
Cornwall - yes cornwall has devolution in the form of a County Council.

But I am willing to understand more about how Cornwall could possibly stand alone as a 'Nation' - economically I believe they have a nett subsidy from the rest of England, so devolution for Cornwall is not really possible unless they want to have a lesser standard of living.
