Default The Conservatives are stealing our policies!

Michael Howard will today try to capitalise on public disquiet over the rise in immigration by proposing an annual quota for the number of migrants and asylum seekers allowed INTO phpbb_Britain.
Now where have I heard that policy announced before?

I thought that this snippet was interesting:
Quote:
A recent commission on immigration set up by the Tories had proposed that only those capable of earning more than £26,000 a year be admitted.
While the average salary in Britain may be something like £24,000, that number is raised dramatically by the ultra-high earners. A starting teacher gets under £18,000. Are the Tories saying that they wouldn't let anyone in unless they can walk straight INTO phpbb_a management job? Anyway, their £24K figure seems excessively high to me.

Promising an open-ended "renegotiation" of Britain's terms of membership, including the single market, he hopes for an EU closer to "what we originally joined".
It isn't a complete withdrawal from the EU, but it is as close as the Tories will ever get to admitting that the EU is a mistake, since they are as responsible as Labour for getting us INTO phpbb_this mess.

It would appear that the party HQ has also picked up on Michael Howard's sudden adoption of UKIP policies:

Robert Kilroy-Silk M.E.P. said today that Michael Howard’s speech this morning on immigration and asylum was “one of the greatest acts of political plagiarism ever”.

And I missed this one. The day after Kilroy-Silk's speech, the Lib Dems also jumped on the quota bandwagon:

Quote:
An annual quota regulating the number of immigrant workers entering Britain from outside the EU should be set up, according to the Liberal Democrats.
Their policy appears to be related to immigrants from outside the EU, while UKIP (and apparently the Tories) is actually more worried about immigration from countries inside the EU.
